on beginnings

if you watch a timelapse video of a seed sprouting, you will see it vibrating. doing a little jig beneath the surface. this is the energy of the beginning of spring. and really the energy of all beginnings.

every season has an energetic movement. the beginning, middle and end of spring move differently. we know this because the beginning of spring looks different than the end of spring. while the overall energy of spring time is an upward outward shooting up, before this can happen, the pressure has to build. thats why, in the chinese calendar, spring starts now. because now, under the snow, under the ice, under the cold ground, are a bunch of seeds and bulbs just beginning to vibrate and agitate and create the friction necessary to pop. if you look at the branches, the trees are already starting to create their buds.

its like slow motion popcorn. the time between now and the flower blooming is the time between turning the microwave on and the popcorn popping. an increase in temperature + pressure leads to an increase in volume, a popping. its just physics. the expansion and contraction of these temperature fluctuations helps to create the circumstances for birth. for something new to come forward, up and out.

so what does this mean for a human? well ideally, you have been sowing up some seeds, sprinkling a million ideas and desires and goals and dreams on the ground, based on your reflections and learnings from last year. the beginnings of the plans. NOW IS THE TIME FOR RESOLUTIONS. what do you want? what do you desire? what do you envision for yourself? how do you want to be different? lay it all out there.

like a farmer who sows a billion seeds in hopes that a million grow. like a gardener that starts 4 seeds in each container knowing only one will ultimately be chosen for the garden bed. this is exactly the energy of late winter and early spring. there are so many seeds, so many ideas you have… which ones will take root? which ones will rise up? which ones will grow? which ones will fruit? which ones are worth your attention? which ones are aligned with your values?

yes, it still “looks” like winter. but don’t you feel the vibration of agitation? don’t you feel a little restless? don’t you feel some of your seeds beginning to shimmy and shake? some of your ideas screaming for manifestation? which means some of them are staying dormant, staying quiet. its either not their time or they aren’t for you. this rising, bursting, fitful energy will come to a head. for now, let it shake you up. lay all your seeds out there. and see which ones are yearning to grow.
